Among previous trustees of the World of Islam Festival Trust and The Altajir Trust have been many distinguished figures who have played significant roles in the Islamic and more particularly the Arab world.

The previous Directors were Dr. Duncan Haldane, M.A., F.R.A.S.from 2005 to 2006 and Mr Alistair Duncan, M.B.E., Administrator of the Festival from 1973 to 1976, Director of the world of Islam Festival Trust from 1977 and of The Altajir Trust from 1982 to 2004.
